POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Worship Studies, the adjunct piano instructor is expected not only to excel in classroom instruction but also to fulfill various responsibilities as active members of the University community. This role is a part-time (adjunct) teaching position of private piano lessons for the Worship Studies students at The King’s University.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

Position Specific Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate students in piano; teach course according to the TKU catalog descriptions and in accordance with defined course standards and outcomes.
- Create a learning environment that encourages student involvement and participation.
- Develop and manage the course syllabus; ensure that the syllabus meets department and University standards and submit by University’s deadlines.
- Collaborate with colleagues on course curriculum.
- Plan and create assignments weekly for lessons
- Set up lesson time with students at beginning of semester
- Work with student on new technologies as necessary
- Prepare for mid-term jury and finals for students
- Submit grades as required by policy.
- Attend faculty meetings as able monthly or as requested by Dean of Academics

- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by governing entities (DOE, TRACS, ABHE, etc.); file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
- Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- A masters degree in music, required.
- At least five years of professional experience on the instrument, preferred.
- Previous experience teaching in higher education.
- Experience teaching the instrument with a modern or pop technique
- Experience serving on a modern worship platform
- Proven success in building and maintaining relationships with students.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and high level of professionalism.
- Effective written and oral communicator.
- Ability to work with minimal guidance.
- Is flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances.
- Ability to integrate technology into teaching.
