POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Executive Director of Student Development, the Associate Director of Student Life is responsible for creating, implementing, and assessing a robust co-curricular student experience through campus activities and events, campus-community engagement, and student leadership development. This position will facilitate and execute student development-related, on-campus activities such as student groups, clubs, organizations, student leadership programs, and student-led events. The ideal candidate for this role will enjoy working in collaborative, team-oriented settings and strongly desire to steward a superior experience for all students through campus events, intentional activities, and timely developmental opportunities. The scope of this position is wide-ranging and requires an equally diverse skillset and blending of abilities.

Position Specific Responsibilities

  • Oversee and implement comprehensive leadership development programs that empower students to cultivate communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Foster partnerships with campus departments, student affairs professionals, faculty, and external organizations to facilitate collaborative opportunities for student leadership growth and engagement.
  • Serve as the staff sponsor for The King’s Council (student leadership program) and provide oversight to council members.
  • Manage clubs and student organizations and facilitate the launch of new clubs and organizations.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a co-curricular student activities program that engages students, encourages student learning and development, facilitates community within the TKU student body, and supports student satisfaction and retention.
  • Evaluate and assess student activities, programs, and events to maintain student satisfaction and meet department goals.
  • Manage and administer budgets for student clubs, organizations, leadership programs, and events, ensuring responsible allocation of financial resources and alignment with departmental goals through transparent and effective fiscal management.
  • Oversee and manage the services and resources offered in TKU’s Student Union.
  • Recruit, train, and coach student volunteers to serve in roles within Student Development departmental programming (small groups, prayer room leaders, local outreach, chapel volunteers, missions, etc.)
  • Develop meaningful relationships with TKU students (both undergraduate and graduate) to offer counsel and contribute to their personal & spiritual growth.
  • Assist the Student Development team in planning and implementing co-curricular student programs to achieve team goals.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Additional ministry training or certification is preferred.
 Experience:
  • 1-2 years of ministry experience required
  • Experience with MS Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Ability to prudently safeguard confidential information.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a high level of professionalism.
  • Self-initiation and self-motivation for independent follow-through on projects.
  • Ability to understand, summarize, and present information in both written and oral formats.
  • Ability to organize materials and work with a variety of projects simultaneously.
  • Ability for critical and logical thinking, good judgment, and problem-solving.

  • Maintain emotional control under stress in a high-intensity, fast-paced environment.
  • Occasional irregular work hours with some participation at evening and weekend events required.
