Financial Aid Advisor
POSITION SUMMARY
The Financial Aid Advisor, reporting to the Director of Student Financial Services, plays a critical role in supporting prospective and current undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students at TKU with various financial aid processes. This position involves reviewing financial aid applications and student/parent documents to determine eligibility in accordance with federal and institutional policies.

Position Specific Responsibilities
Analyze financial aid applications and confidential financial data to assess eligibility for assistance from institutional, federal, and state programs.
Process student loans, including monitoring aspects such as Master Promissory Notes (MPN), loan counseling, and annual limits.
Ensure students continue to meet SAP standards by reviewing their academic performance and communicating with students about their eligibility.
Provide timely, professional advice to prospective students and families regarding costs, financial aid policies, procedures, and available funding options.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations by staying informed about current legislation and implementing necessary changes.
Communicate effectively with borrowers and maintain supportive interactions with students.
Collaborate with team members to manage workload and ensure quality service.
Maintain accurate records as required by governing entities (e.g., DOE, TRACS, ABHE) and ensure all reports and documents are filed correctly.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma, required.
Bachelor’s degree, preferred.
Experience
Accounting experience, required.
Minimum of one year experience in financial aid, preferred.
Competencies:
Strong customer service skills, advocating positively for students and parents.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking (preferred but not required).
Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
