POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Vice President of University Relations, the Associate Director of Donor Relations plays a key role in implementing and administering a strategic fund development plan aligned with TKU’s mission. This position manages content and data to track donor engagement, oversees a portfolio of major donors, including quarterly donor impact reports and endowment updates, and assesses the effectiveness of university events to ensure return on investment. The role also supports Salesforce CRM input and data integrity and partners cross-departmentally to support University-wide advancement initiatives.

  • Manage donor portfolios to provide quarterly donor impact reports and annual updates on endowment (scholarship) funds.
  • Manage donor engagement strategies, including tracking campaign engagement through Salesforce.
  • Partner with the Vice President of University Relations to implement and sustain a strategic communication plan to elevate fundraising efforts, engage with existing and future donors and alumni, and reengage with past donors.
  • Oversee the execution of events including graduation ceremonies, alumni and donor events, and conferences by coordinating volunteers and vendors, managing timelines, and monitoring event budgets.
  • Develop and apply ROI metrics to assess event effectiveness and make strategic decisions on future events.
  • Ensure timely and accurate entry of donor data into Salesforce.
  • Partner with consultants and internal teams to optimize data use and system integrity.
  • Work closely with the Vice President of University Relations on strategic fundraising and engagement initiatives.
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of part-time staff or student workers, as applicable.
  • Foster strong cross-departmental collaboration to support Advancement and Alumni initiatives.
  • Assist in creating donor-focused content (e.g., newsletters, campaign updates, reports).
  • Represent the Advancement Office at select internal and external events, serving as an extension of the VP of University Relations.
  • Prepare reports for internal stakeholders including the Board of Trustees and President’s Cabinet.
  • Participate in budget planning and manage assigned budgets and complete administrative tasks including purchase requisitions, credit card reconciliations, and expense reports.

  • Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Part-time student workers or additional part-time staff, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Communications, Marketing, Business, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management,or equivalent relevant professional experience, required.
Experience:
  • 3–5 years of experience in donor or alumni relations, with a demonstrated track record of cultivating and maintaining relationships.
  • 3–5 years of experience in event planning and execution, including managing logistics, vendors, and budgets.
  • Experience with graphic design tools for content creation and/or a professional fundraising certification, preferred.
